This home is very much an expression of the owner's vision. The owner purchased the lot over 20 years ago and the construction of this home was the realization of a dream.
The property was the last piece of lakefront land to be developed in a well-established neighborhood. Because the land had very special sentimental value to the owner, both the design and the construction of the home had to be very site-sensitive.
The owner wanted a minimum of trees cut, preferring a view of the lake through the trees. One 16" diameter cherry tree that had to be cut down was milled and kiln dried. It was then used to craft a bench and pegged coat rack in the entryway. The owner is considering constructing window seats from the remainder of the wood at a later date.
