Cormack renovated this 200-year-old farmhouse and attached barn, which had a significant lean and was in serious disrepair. After correcting the structural lean, we lifted the barn so we could replace its cobbled granite stone base with an energy-efficient ICF foundation.
We masterfully rebuilt the barn’s interior to include a bright and spacious primary bedroom and bathroom on the top floor and a rec room/coffee bar on the lower level. As part of our efforts to maintain the property’s charm and character, the barn’s original flooring was restored and used in a new mud room.
Our team removed the old home-to-barn connector and incorporated its salvaged posts, boards, and beams in a beautiful new den. The WoodWorks, our wood-working division, hand-crafted a desk and added custom trim, molding, and built-in shelving. The awkward two-level entrance to the home was replaced with a same-level mud room/entryway constructed in the barn’s lower level.
This was a complex project, and per the owner’s request, we were able to complete it without altering the property’s exterior appearance.

Client Testimonial
“This property has been in our family for four generations. The beauty of this project is that when you drive by our house and barn, there is very little change from the outside. I really can’t say enough about Cormack’s team. They clearly respected the beauty and history of our property and did everything needed to preserve and restore it.”
