Residential Design-Build in Meredith, NH

portfolio-item-background.jpg
  • Positioned on a sun-lit lakefront hillside, this custom residence blends classic shingle-style architecture with refined craftsmanship and subtle modern detailing. The home's graceful massing, wrapped in soft-toned shingles and accented by crisp white trim, creates a timeless New England presence that feels both welcoming and sophisticated.

  • A signature element of the design is the home's expressive timber work, used structurally and decoratively to frame entryways, porches, and upper-level rooflines. These natural wood components introduce warmth and craftsmanship, echoing traditional building methods while grounding the architecture within its lakeside setting.

Beautiful copper scupper drains and downspouts enhance the façade, serving as both functional water-management features and elegant design accents. Its warm metallic sheen adds a quiet richness to the exterior palette, catching the sun and complementing the siding's soft hues. As the copper naturally patinas over time, it will become a sculptural feature that deepens the home's character and visual depth.

Large windows and sweeping bays are thoughtfully arranged to maximize lake views and natural light. The rounded turret, one of the home's defining architectural features, creates a panoramic perch on both levels, with broad bands of glass framing the landscape from sunrise to sunset. Upper and lower porches extend the living spaces outward, offering shaded retreats and direct connection to the tiered stone terraces below.

The landscape design works in harmony with the architecture, featuring hand-laid stone retaining walls and generous granite boulders that terrace the hillside and anchor the home gracefully into its sloping terrain. These natural elements soften the transition to the lawn and shoreline, creating a harmonious interplay between built form and natural surroundings.

  • A Refined Example of New England Coastal Craftsmanship

Throughout the residence, traditional detailing meets thoughtful engineering, resulting in a home that is as durable as it is beautiful. From its custom timber features to its meticulously crafted copper drainage system, the home stands as a refined example of New England coastal craftsmanship—timeless, elegant, and deeply connected to its site.
