New Barley & Salt Tap House and Kitchen

Interior Design & Build for a Restaurant in Conway, NH

portfolio-item-background.jpg
  • Located in the heart of North Conway’s bustling retail district within the Mount Washington Valley, Barley & Salt is a 5,000-square-foot, free-standing restaurant designed for a prominent local restaurateur. Centrally located between Settlers’ Green and Settlers’ Streetside, the restaurant brings an elevated dining experience to a highly trafficked commercial corridor, offering the perfect destination for food, drink, and community after a day of shopping or exploring in New Hampshire’s White Mountains.

  • Designed in collaboration with Boston-based Prellwitz Chilinski Associates, Inc., the architecture and interior design are inspired by the industrial character of New England mill buildings and the communal energy of Brooklyn beer halls. The building features a rich brick façade, arched windows, and double-height ceilings anchored by dramatic industrial-style chandeliers. Inside, the design layers colorful tilework, plaid banquette seating, bold wood wall paneling, and industrial pipe detailing to create a space that’s both inviting and visually engaging. A three-season deck offers open-air dining with scenic views of the surrounding area.

Barley & Salt hired our team (changed to active voice) to add the “Cormack” touch to the restaurant's interior finishes. We worked closely with the project’s General Contractor to blend an industrial-themed space with a high level of quality craftsmanship. Each piece of cabinetry for the bar and backbar is a custom fabrication from The WoodWorks, our in-house woodworking shop. From the thick maple shelving supported by threaded pipes to the wood-paneled accent walls to the wooden shingled roof of the hostess station, CCM helped bring life to this unique “Valley Original.”

  • A Globally-Inspired Restaurant Rooted in the Local Landscape

Every project element, from layout to finish, was carefully executed to complement the extensive craft beer offerings and globally inspired street food menu. The result is an elegant, globally-inspired dining experience that feels rooted in the local landscape. Since it was featured on Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives and Guy’s Grocery Games, this local treasure has earned national attention.
