Timberpeg-Framed Lake House
Residential Design-Build on Silver Lake

Set against the tranquil backdrop of Silver Lake in Meredith, New Hampshire, this 6,600-square-foot custom residence is an ambitious architectural composition that merges elevated craftsmanship with natural serenity. Designed in close collaboration with Samyn-D'Elia Architects, the home is a modern interpretation of the timeless lake house, honoring the landscape while delivering a layered, detail-rich living experience.
A meticulously crafted Douglas Fir Timberpeg frame anchors the structure, infusing the interior with warmth and integrity. The building envelope combines structural insulated panels for maximum energy performance with a robust insulated concrete foundation, allowing the architecture to sit confidently within its site—tethered to the landscape, yet open to expansive views. A sweeping eyebrow roof frames the formal entry, leading to a custom arch-top sapele wood-and-glass entry door that invites one into a richly articulated interior.
Clad in Brava composite cedar-shake siding and topped with standing-seam copper roofing, the residence resonates with material authenticity and permanence. A detached garage structure mirrors the design language of the main house, while elaborate native landscaping and hand-laid stone walkways guide movement across the site. A constructed sand-and-boulder beach, a full dock, and a forested path establish a direct, immersive relationship with the lake's edge, dissolving the boundary between built form and natural setting.
Inside, the home unfolds as a sequence of highly curated spaces, each tailored with an extraordinary degree of craftsmanship. Months of collaboration between our team and a Chicago-based interior designer yielded an extensive set of detailed shop drawings, enabling our in-house woodshop to fabricate every interior element with surgical precision. The project includes dual kitchens constructed of poplar and ash. Each is fitted with integrated charging stations, inset lighting, glass-faced cabinetry, panelized appliances, and a custom stainless steel hood surround. Cabinetry extends throughout the home in a seamless architectural language, with custom vanities, medicine cabinets, laundry enclosures, linen storage, and built-in wardrobes fabricated to the most exacting standards.
The primary bath features sleek, minimal detailing, including Touareg Mezzanotte & Latte hand-painted tiles and concealed linear shower drains. The great room opens to soaring ceiling heights beneath a monumental floor-to-ceiling Marvin Ultimate window wall, finished in black. A grand stone fireplace, anchored by a reclaimed timber mantel, establishes the home's central hearth.
Additional moments of architectural delight include a fully enclosed three-season porch, a cantilevered deck with an integrated outdoor kitchen, custom-designed bunk beds built directly into the timber frame, and a hidden children's play nook nestled beneath the stairs. A dedicated craft room is thoughtfully built out with shelving, cabinetry, and specialty work zones. Every lighting fixture—sourced from Hubbardton Forge, Visual Comfort, Barn Light Company, Hudson Valley, Currey, and Hinkley—was selected to complement the material palette and architectural rhythms of the home.A Testament to Collaborative Design with a Respect for the Natural Surroundings
