Freshen up Any Space with Green

According to virtually every leading paint brand—including Behr, Benjamin Moore, Glidden, and Sherwin-Williams—green is the “it color” for 2022. If you’re thinking it’s not easy being green, here are some tips on how to incorporate this color into your home.
Why green?
“Believe it or not, green can be a very versatile, timeless color. It’s a great way to bring the outdoors in, giving your room a tranquil, natural feel,” explains Tom Cracolici, senior designer at Cormack Construction. “Many of these lighter verdant hues can be used as a neutral when designing your space,” Cracolici adds.
Unsure? Start small.
If you’re not ready to commit to using green in a main room, consider trying it in smaller spaces, such as a guest bathroom, mudroom, or office. Sherwin-Williams Color of the Year, Evergreen Fog, can lend a spa-like feel to any bathroom, creating a peaceful respite.
Or go bold . . .
While some homeowners might want to start small with green, others might want to dive in deep with a bold paint color or wallpaper accent wall. Another option is to bring in some green-colored furnishings, which are becoming increasingly popular.
A note about lighting: When choosing your green paint color, throw away the notion that dark spaces require lighter shades and vice versa. Consider painting your dimly lit room with a saturated, moody color like Benjamin Moore’s Vintage Vogue. Add plenty of lamp lighting and brighten the space with lighter linens and furniture. When selecting a green color for a room with lots of natural light, you may want to go a bit darker. The light will illuminate the color, making it look a lot brighter than it did in the store.
Use serene greens for calmer spaces.
Serene shades of green are perfect for bedrooms, offices, or nurseries. Look for a shade with blue undertones to evoke a feeling of calmness and serenity.
Consider other ways to incorporate shades of green.
You don’t have to paint an entire room green to bring in the color’s calming, neutral effect. Add green accents in your upholstery, drapes, pillows, furnishings, and accessories.
